This classic brick office building is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.  Built in 1911, it has been restored to its original splendor and converted from an engine house, or fire station, to an office building.  The entire structure has been upgraded to meet current code and seismic structural requirements.  Restoration included all new electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning.

 

The interior perimeter walls are exposed brick.  Office and hallway ceilings are 12’ high.  Hallways receive natural light from skylights and are tastefully decorated with photographs of historic Tacoma.  Large, multi-pane windows provide constant light for offices.  Deciduous trees filter light through windows on the south side. 

 

Access:  Access/egress is very convenient to I-5 north and south and Highway 16 to Gig Harbor and Bremerton.  The off-ramp to 26th Street from I-5, both north and southbound, is literally adjacent to the building’s parking garage.  The exit (the same exit for the Tacoma Dome) is easily described to clients.  The brick tower of the old engine house is also well-known and easily recognizable landmark.  Access to the freeway northbound is one block west of the building at the on-ramp at ‘A’ Street.  Access to the freeway southbound is two blocks west at Pacific Avenue. 

 

 

RTA Access:  The building is only one block from the light rail and Sounder commuter rail station and two blocks from the Tacoma Dome Transit Center.  Bus access from Seattle is extremely convenient to the Tacoma Dome Transit Center.   Access to downtown Tacoma is free and by car is a direct drive to Pacific Avenue and north to downtown (approximately one mile away).
